| ERSKINE-1927 |
Built
in 1927 by the Stude Baker Corporation, USA.
The first owner of this car was renowned in British India
Dr.James Wells from Ajmer.
After that we bought the car and restored the car with original
spare parts. It is one of the rare cars in the world.
Some seventy five years ago, Albert Russel Erskine,
President of the Stude Baker Corporation,
came to the decision that the world automobile market would
shortly demand a car of the European type, built to the
standards of the fine American car.
After exhaustive investigation both abroad and in this country, followed
by the building of 15 experimental chassis and bodies and
countless road tests at Studebaker's million dollar proving
ground,a remarkable new-type car evolved by Studebaker engineers.
Because Mr. Erskine was primarily responsible
for the development of this evolutionary new car, the board
of directors of the Studebaker Corporation unanimously decreed
that it should be named the "Erskine Six".

Usually Ford is an American Company but
this car was made in England. The first owner of the car
was Rao Raja Saheb of Bijolia (Rajasthan).
After that it was bought in 1996 and restored with original
spare parts.
The
Model A, introduced in 1928, was the successor
to the wildly successful Model T. A far more sophisticated
automobile, the Model comprised 6800 different parts as
opposed to the under 5000 for the last Model T.
It also put out double the HP 40 HP as
opposed to only 20 HP for the Model
T.
While the Model A was well-received, it
did not allow Ford to reclaim the sales
lead it lost to Chevrolet in 1927. For 1928, Ford sold 633,594
cars, while Chevrolet, much vaunted as a reliable automobile
and great value, sold an impressive 1,193,212 cars. |
